The O’Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation Story

May O’Donnell and Ray Green had a desire to share their work beyond their own lives, which led to the establishment of The O’Donnell-Green Music and Dance Foundation. In the 1960s, Ray Green bought two buildings on East 7th Street between Avenues C and D in Manhattan, and spent years renovating and maintaining them. Proceeds from the sale of these buildings provided the bulk of the Foundation’s resources. While the Foundation was formed during the lifetimes of O’Donnell and Green, it only began dispersing funds after their deaths. Since 2008, the Foundation has awarded grants totaling more than $2 million.
